PEOPLE

Who We Are

First and Foremost…

…is you. Vote16 is, above all else, a community, a group made up of every youth leader, friend, supporter, mentor, and volunteer, not just a Board or a specific collection of leaders. Without your support and the hard work of everyone involved, Vote16 wouldn’t be all it is today.

We’d love to have you join us in our efforts — see how you can join the community here:

Board

The Vote16 Board, comprised entirely of student leaders, serves to organize the efforts of the campaign and to support our chapters and members. Weekly Board meetings are held via conference call, in addition to monthly in-person meetings. The board is selected by outgoing boardmembers each year.

Founder

Vivekae is a co-founder of Vote16IL. She believes Vote16IL is not just about lowering the voting age, that it’s about empowering younger generations to recognize bad policy and crooked politics when they see it, and to use the voice through their vote to better their community. She is currently a Harvard College student planning to major in Social Studies. Vivekae’s experiences within a segregated Chicago and a financially struggling public school system have made her passionate about local political change, housing equity, education funding, and advocating for urban communities.
